How to Be of Massive Value (and Still Get Paid)
Every entrepreneur hits this wall: "How much should I give away for free, and when do I charge?"
In this article, I'm breaking it down. Because being generous doesn't mean working for free. It means being strategic.
What Does "Massive Value" Actually Mean?
It's not your funnel. It's not your lead magnet. It's not an opt-in.
Massive value is:
Authentic comments on someone else's content
Answering questions inside a Facebook group
Sharing your actual process or quick wins without asking for anything in return
One person I want to shout out is Matthew. He spent time engaging with 50+ of my posts before even reaching out. That’s massive value.
Why This Matters (Especially If You're Not Getting Referrals)
If you’re not in the right rooms... If you're not getting referrals... If you're not meeting aligned people...
Then chances are, you're not showing up with value first.
In the past five years, I’ve generated over $1M in client revenue directly from referrals. How? I showed up to serve beforeI ever tried to sell.
What to Give Away for Free
Here's what to share without hesitation:
1. Expertise
Share tips, strategies, and case studies
Bust myths and common mistakes
Give away your best insights (yes, even the good ones)
2. Quick Wins
"How I got 10 leads with one post"
Templates, checklists, swipe files
Screenshots of results
3. Engaging Content
Tell stories
Show behind-the-scenes
Post relatable struggles
Run polls or open Q&As
Free content should spark conversations, not just views.
4. Personal Wins and Lessons
If you learned something from a coach or group, talk about it. If you implemented something and saw results, share them.
What to Hold Back (and Charge For)
Massive value doesn't mean giving away your business.
Keep these gated:
Personalized advice and 1:1 strategy
Your custom frameworks or templates
Done-for-you resources (like video sales scripts)
Your time
Give away the "what" and the "why." Charge for the "how" and the support.
How to Build Authority Without Burning Out
Use this 80/20 rule:
80% of your content should build value and audience trust
20% should lead to your paid offers
Everything you do should serve multiple purposes:
Stream content live in multiple places
Turn one training into a blog, email, post, and PDF
Repurpose answers into a FAQ or swipe file
Action Plan: Start Showing Up With Value
Pick 3 communities where your ideal clients hang out
Engage weekly by answering questions and sharing lessons
Create one post per week that offers a quick win or helpful insight
Build a Google Doc swipe file you can give out with no opt-in
Track who engages and start 1:1 conversations
Remember: your free content builds paid trust. Don't hold back. The people who hire you aren't paying for info. They're paying for implementation, support, and results.
